Laura Mulvey believed that we live in a world where men have power and women don’t. She also thinks that men dominate the media in the way that men do the “looking” and women are “looked at”. Whatever images the man has of the woman; this is then projected onto the woman as very sexual, passive, scantily clad and provocative. This is a common theme in genres such as R&B, Hip-hop and Rap for example. In these videos we, as the audience are looking from the man’s perspective. The shots of women tend to be, body shots, such as leg shots, and Arial shots to show their breasts. Body shots tend to be on a particular body part, like the bottom, slowly tilting down, showing the women’s physical features, which appeals to the men.
