Reflecting back on the AS year - Technical Skills I developed

Over the AS year, my group and I developed a range of different skills for different things. This went from learning how to use a professional camera to using a professional editing software.

Camera
Our technician, Mickey demonstrated:

  • how to turn a camera on and off
  • how to focus the lens
  • how to use extra compartments, e.g microphone and lights
  • how to zoom in and out
  • how to insert batteries
  • How to use a tripod
We then analysed different camera angles, camera movements and shot types so that we could put what we had learnt in to practice. e.g. High angle / medium long shot / panning

Editing

our media teacher marisa showed us how to use final cut pro. the skills I learned were:

  • how to make different cuts appear seamless
  • how to adjust sound levels
  • how to use split screens
  • how to use transitions
  • how to add in titles and credits
  • how to add motion titles

Blogging

I think blogging was also another skill I learnt during the AS course. At the beginning of the course, my blogs were very boring but as they gradually uploaded they became better and I started to present my work in different ways. For example, prezi or Glogster. This made my later blogs a lot more interesting to read.
