Research for Music Video - Copyright Clearance

As part of legal requirements, in order to use a UK artist’s song, we needed to request permission from their record label company to see if they would allow us to use their song for our coursework. Our first task was to choose a few songs that we may want to remake, however we had to bear in mind that we had no budget for creating the music video. This meant that we had to choose our videos wisely. 

During the holiday, I researched a few songs that i thought would be ideal for my project. 

The three songs I chose were:

1.Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis




2. Chipmunk - Oopsy Daisy







3. N Dubz - Wouldn't You





I used an app called 'Screen Record Utility' to crop the chorus of each song from youtube to give an idea of the genre of each song. 




Before we can use an existing music video, it is necessary to ask permission from the record label company the song was created by. Below, I have shown three screenshots of the emails I sent to the record companies of the songs I have chosen above.
